Gatton Panic seedling
Note the stiff, red stems that radiate from the crown at about a 45 degree angle from the horizontal. The stems are very smooth too.

A 4 month old Gatton Panic plant. Note the red / purple colour on the stems and the way they radiate out from the crown. By comparison Green Panic (closely related) has stems that are green, and they are hairy, whereas the stems on Gatton are smooth.

Signal Grass has distinctive shiny lime green coloured leaves. It also has short runners that very rarely root down. It has a seed head a bit like paspalum.
